Tree Planting

Each year in Spring and Fall, Friends of Grand Rapids Parks plants trees throughout the City. These trees are largely funded through sponsorships, donations, and grants. The majority of our tree plantings take place in City Parks and Tree Lawns (area between sidewalk and street), but we also work with various community groups, non-profits, faith-based organizations, and neighbors like you.
For a list of upcoming plantings, CHECK OUR CALENDAR.

Park Tree Planting

Friends of Grand Rapids seeks to protect, enhance, and expand parks and public spaces. Over the past several years, we have worked with the City of Grand Rapids to plant hundreds of trees in parks throughout the City. Park plantings are a great opportunity to come out, get dirty, and positively impact your community.

Neighborhood Tree Planting

We engage with community groups, neighborhoods, block-clubs and other place-based organizations to plant trees that will improve curbside appeal and provide numerous environmental benefits. In neighborhoods across the City, we have worked with residents, Citizen Foresters, and the City of Grand Rapids to plant trees in parks, along streets, or on other publicly accessible lands. If you are interested in planting trees in your neighborhood, CONTACT US.

Tree Bank

Friends of Grand Rapids Parks accepts donations for our Community Tree Bank. All proceeds to the Tree Bank goes towards planting and establishing young trees. This bank is drawn upon to help fund tree plantings through OUR MINI-GRANT PROGRAM and other initiatives across Grand Rapids. DONATE TO OUR TREE BANK.
