Classified as a Mini-Park it serves as the recreational and social focus of the neighborhood.

Charles Garfield donated the land for Cheseboro Park and suggested naming the park for Edward Cheseboro, the first principle of Grand Rapids High School. Garfield wanted nothing more than a playground at the park for little children. He stated that the donation of Cheseboro Park expressed his “love for Grand Rapids…and faith in its future.”
