Tree Planting Workshop

March 5, 2014 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Trees are picky. They can also be a bit peculiar, but that’s beside the point. Chiefly, trees have specific requirements in order to grow and thrive. They prefer specific soil types, and when angry can sometimes cause conflicts with utility lines or buildings. To prevent issues, it’s best to plant a tree in the right place, at the right time, for the right purpose, using the right methods.

Join Friends of Grand Rapids Parks to cover the basics of tree planting, choosing the right location, and early tree maintenance. This class is one of four required to earn Citizen Forester designation. We hope that this class helps volunteers become comfortable leading others at tree planting, working within their communities, and to better care for their own trees.

Space is limited! Please RSVP to Lee Mueller at 616.389.4687. This class is free for Friends of Grand Rapids Parks members. You can become a member for a suggested donation of $5 or more.
