Riverside Park Tree Planting: Day Three

October 25, 2014 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Over the summer, you may have noticed a lot of construction next to Riverside Park. This fall, that work should be complete and a new bike pathway will be available along Monroe NW. As part of on-going work in Riverside Park to replace trees lost to Emerald Ash Borer, FGRP will be planting trees along the new bike path.

On October 24th and 25th, Friends, West Michigan Environmental Action Council, and local volunteers will plant between 50 and 80 trees in Riverside Park. These trees will be planted to improve tree diversity, replace trees lost to Emerald Ash Borer, and beautify the park following substantial new construction of roadways and trails. Every helping hand gathered will be greatly appreciated as the efforts of volunteers are what helps drive these events and programs.

Join us at 9am on October 25th at the ball-field parking lot to plant new trees! FGRP provides the tools, trees, and training. You will need drinking water, any snacks you might want, closed-toed shoes, and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. Contact Rachel (Rachel@friendsofgrparks.org) to register.

This project is funded in part by the United States Forest Service through the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative, the Grand Rapids Community Foundation, local area breweries, and donations from friends like you.
