about brewers grove
The Brewers Grove started in 2013 when local brewers asked Friends of Grand Rapids Parks how they could celebrate being named Beer City USA by giving back to our parks and public spaces.
The idea was seeded to create tree-themed beers that would be offered in conjunction with Experience GR’s Beer Month GR. Each participating brewery, distillery and cider house makes a donation to Friends of Grand Rapids Parks to fund tree plantings and further our vision of thriving parks and sustainable urban forest.
To celebrate this great collaboration, each February we have a month of tree themed beers and beverages at participating breweries, distilleries, cider houses and brewpubs around Grand Rapids. The following fall, we use funds raised to plant trees and increase the tree canopy! This tree planting and tree-beer party will give you the opportunity to meet the minds behind the Tree Beers, plant some trees, and enjoy some music and yard games.
The trees planted will improve tree diversity, provide a source of food to wildlife and park users, and replace removed ash trees lost due to the Emerald Ash Borer epidemic. Every hand that digs deep into the spirit of community will be greatly appreciated; the efforts of volunteers are what helps drive these events and programs.
