Volunteer Spotlight: Amanda C.

Amanda C. has been a volunteer with Friends of Grand Rapids Parks (FGRP) for over a year. She became involved with our organization through her employer, who is one of our key sustainability partners. As she learned more about the goals and visions of our organization, she decided to invest more time and energy in a worthy cause. FGRP is the perfect platform.

She enjoys that we are local and visible throughout all neighborhoods of Grand Rapids and that we’re an organization that all walks of life can get involved with and have fun doing so. Her favorite event, thus far, has been the Mayor Greening Initiative. It warms her heart to see everyone out early in the morning, gathered together for a good cause. She looks forward to the Movies in the Park and future Park Beautification events. As a citizen of Grand Rapids, she feels indebted to maintaining our natural resources. FGRP allows her to be a steward of the earth and contribute to enhancing our neighborhoods.

As a mother, she wants to show her son how to value the world and will definitely bring him along to park cleanups and any other events. Her hobbies include spending time with my family and traveling to the Upper Peninsula. She’s interested in picking up new outdoor hobbies such as fishing and hiking. Amanda is grateful for her friends at FGRP who have the passion and compassion to make a difference in this world. We are so lucky to have her on board and so appreciative of all she does!
