Jeff Heise is one of FGRP’s newest team members, rocking the position of Community Engagement and Development Intern! Jeff comes to us from Northern Illinois University, just outside of Chicago, with a background in biology/ecology, and a passion for ALL the data.
You’ll see him out and about at Friends events, but read on to learn more!
I have always been an “outdoors-y” person, and the idea of being able to collaborate with others to bring the benefits of green spaces to everyone is a huge passion of mine!
Once I finish my master’s degree, I hope to work somewhere that cares for greenspaces, be it urban parks or large natural areas.
At Friends, I am learning a ton about how the non-profit sector works! The inner-workings of non-profits are a new field for me, and something that I am excited to get to learn about and take into the future.
I love disc golfing, and Garfield Park has the best course around!
Donkey Taqueria has the best tacos!
Plant and soil science! (mm, we’re not surprised. love it!)
Always RadioLab for podcasts, but I’m currently watching The Dark Crystal show on Netflix.
Tacos. Incredibly versatile, and I am always ready for them. (us too, Jeff. us too…)
EASY. Email, Weather, and Pokemon Go.
Often working (I also work at a store in addition to at Friends), but otherwise spending time with my wife and cats!
Friends of Grand Rapids Parks has an active internship program and we’re always accepting resumes for the next season! Interested? Check it out here.
