Fall into the Colors

The weather is getting cooler, people are wearing sweaters, it can only mean one thing… Fall is close! Living in West Michigan can make the transitions of the seasons hard to predict, but thankfully the Smoky Mountains released their “Fall Foliage Prediction Map for 2018” to help all of us witness the best thing about Fall – the leaves changing color. This interactive map illustrates and tracks when you’ll be able to see the leaves at their most beautiful, from “minimal” to “past peak.” Their prediction for West Michigan’s peak is approximately October 22nd, so be sure to keep your eyes open leading up until then! For more information about the science behind leaves changing color or to look at the leaf-patterns for yourself, go to: https://smokymountains.com/fall-foliage-map/

Especially if you’re planning on a trip up north, such as to Traverse City (pictured above), be sure to consult the Smoky Mountains Foliage Prediction Map to avoid missing the best of the scenic route!
