Friends of Grand Rapids Parks celebrated six years of protecting, enhancing, and expanding our parks and public spaces last week at CityFlats Hotel. We enjoyed a great night with Friends and supporters and loved hearing guest speaker Alexie Torres-Fleming discuss her success mobilizing New York residents.
We also celebrated three 2015 Charles Garfield award recipients for their dedication to the Grand Rapids community. Amanda St. Amour received our Volunteer of the Year Award both for her service to our advisory boards and to our parks. Steve Krogman, the City of Grand Rapids Parks and Facilities Supervisor, received our Above and Beyond Award for his tireless work to support our park clean ups and tree plantings. The Roosevelt Park Advocates received our award for Civic and Community Leadership for their service to Roosevelt and Clemente Parks.
