Open house unveiling plans for 8 GR parks

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) – The City of Grand Rapids will unveil eight neighborhood park plans at an open house Wednesday hosted by the Parks and Recreation Board.

The open house will show concept plans for Cherry, Fuller, Garfield, Highland, Lincoln, Roosevelt, Westown Commons and Wilcox parks.

It will start at 6 p.m. and will be held at the Gerald R. Ford Academic Center located at 851 Madison Avenue SE. The event is open to the public.

The plans were created through a series of design workshops held in October and November with the assistance of Neighborhood Planning Teams, two local design firms and the Friends of Grand Rapids Parks.

The development of these parks represents Phase 1 in updating the city’s Parks and Recreation Master Plan.
