2013 National NeighborWoods® Month Photo Contest Winners Announced

Washington, DC (March 10, 2014)– Congratulations to Canopy of Palo Alto, CA, for their winning National NeighborWoods® Month photo! Their image captured the spirit of volunteerism that thrives in NeighborWoods®programs across the nation. This photograph features community youth digging in to grow a brighter future. It conveys the optimism, enthusiasm, multi-generational collaboration, and positive action required to transform communities with trees.
1st Place:
Expert tree planter, at your service! Youth mulcher extraordinaire Zoey was one of 350 volunteers who joinedCanopy on October 19, 2013, to plant 160 trees at the K-6 East Palo Alto Charter School in celebration of National NeighborWoods® Month.
2nd Place:
Photographer Ian Anderson captured this inspiring shot of members of the Grand Rapids Community Foundation Youth Team working together to help plant a tree in Riverside Park with Friends of Grand Rapids Parks on October 26, 2013, in Grand Rapids, MI.
NNWM13Contest23rd Place:
Philadelphia Orchard Project planted trees at Bartram’s Garden in Philadelphia, PA, with support from CSX – while proudly sporting their green NeighborWoods® t-shirts!

Runner Up:
