City of Grand Rapids to Hire Parks Director

This is advanced professional and managerial work which involves the planning, organizing, coordinating, directing administration, operations, maintenance of the City’s parks system. Executive responsibilities include providing a comprehensive Transformation Plan for the City’s 73 parks, 6 cemeteries, 11 water features, 1 golf course, and urban forest, as well as directing recreational programs for the community. Oversight and management of the department’s professional and other subordinate staff are key duties which also fall within the scope of this leadership position.  The work is performed under the direction of the City Manager, a Managing Director, or their designee.
