GVSU alums help Friends of Grand Rapids Parks as part of Community Outreach Week

Twelve Grand Valley State University alums participated in the annual Community Outreach Week by volunteering with Friends of Grand Rapids Parks at Richmond Park this past Saturday.  Although it still felt like ice skating weather, volunteers assisted in disassembling the two WinterWest ice rinks that remained in the park from the recent winter festival.

According to the event website, Grand Valley’s Community Outreach Week is “an award winning week of service aimed at uniting Lakers from around the globe in providing volunteer support and outreach in their communities.”  It is a joint effort between the school’s Alumni Association and Community Service Learning Center. You can learn more about Community Outreach Week by visiting their website here.
Thanks to all those who were able to come out and help!  Pictures from the event are available on our Facebook fan page.
