Volunteers
from Fishbeck, Thompson, Carr and Huber (FTC&H) assisted at 3
local parks (Garfield, Riverside and Richmond) to make a big difference in celebration of Earth Day by painting,
planting and cleaning up playgrounds. Additional volunteers from C3: Care, Compassion, Community helped at Garfield Park. Most notably, volunteers helped to plant 40 trees at Riverside Park. The 40 trees are natives and part of a broader strategy to replace aging and damaged trees, all in the effort to help the City achieve the 40% urban tree canopy goal.
The tree planting was sponsored by Friends of GR Parks, The City of Grand Rapids Parks and Recreation Dept., and the Urban Forestry Committee.
