GRAND RAPIDS - Dozens of people met at Oakhill Cemetery today in Grand Rapids for a two hour tour around the area.

Guests were shown tombstones and special symbols commonly used in burials. Plus, they talked about the ecology of the park, the unusual trees and the people who have been laid to rest at the cemetery.

It's home to a number of note-worthy people in Grand Rapids, including congressmen and representatives.

"We have some great saints and sinners buried here at Oakhill Cemetery and in Grand Rapids and so we thought it would be fun to see who owns some of the buildings downtown and where their final resting place is," said Steve Faber with Friends of Grand Rapids Parks.

The event was part of a larger string of events called Neighbor Woods. Organizers are hoping to remind people about the importance of urban parks.
