A new volunteer organization will give city parks a spring cleanup on Saturday.

Friends of Grand Rapids Parks holds its first event tomorrow with the “I Love GR Parks” mobilization
effort to spruce up 16 city parks. Hundreds of volunteers are expected
to pitch in by planting trees and flowers, raking, painting, spreading
mulch, and, of course, picking up the trash.

The non-profit organization aims to improve parks in the city, especially since the Grand Rapids is facing possible budget cuts.

If you are looking to help out, it’s not too late — just head to
Hillcrest Dog Park, located at 1200 Lyon St. NE, between 9 a.m. and
noon tomorrow.
