 Park Profiles Ready for Input

riversidepic.png
The website Park Profiles are rapidly developing!

When complete, we will have an interactive site that will allow people to easily search for parks, upload their park photos, make key contacts, search for park amenities and find valuable information and historical data for their favorite parks.

Here is a sneak peek at the profile for Riverside Park, as well as the Interactive Google Map

Do you have a special study of your park?  An interesting historical fact?  A favorite spot you want others to know about?  Great pictures you want to share?  If you would like to help develop more detail for your favorite park(s), contact Heather.

Super Sweet Sledding Slopes in Grand Rapids Parks

124px-Pictograms-nps-sledding-2.svg.png
All of this great snow isn’t going to stick around forever.  One way to enjoy it is to check out some of these super sweet
sledding slopes in some of Grand Rapids Parks.

The Belknap Hill at Mary Waters Park and the hill at Mulick Park are perfect for all ages.

Richmond Park offers a good size hill for some fast fun.  There are a few trees off to one side to avoid.  The best feature of the hill at Richmond Park is the stairs to make the climb back to the top a little easier, especially if you have sleds and kids in tow.

For the truly daring, no sledding season is complete without a few runs down Lookout Hill at Belknap Park.  Local kids usually build some pretty big ramps and jumps, and get creative with what they use as sleds.

If you take any great pictures of your sledding adventures, share them with us in the Friends of GR Parks flickr pools.  Just search for the park name.  If you’re feeling extra adventurous, make a sledding video and share it with us on Vimeo.
